Bargetto
Just a few miles away from R2 Hillside Ranch is a wonderful winery. Bargetto Winery is a third generation family owned and operated winery that was established in 1933 on the banks of Soquel Creek in the Santa Cruz Mountains. They specialize in producing award winning wines which are carefully nurtured at the Regan Estate Vineyard, overlooking the beautiful Monterey Bay. This mountainous, cool climate region is host to low-yielding vineyards which produce wines of richness and intensity. Bargetto Winery produces Pinot Noir, Merlot, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and several Italian varietals. In addition to offering red and white wine varietals, Bargetto Winery is also home to the Chaucer Mead brand which is always a great ending to a dinner. Bargetto is currently offering Original Mead, Raspberry Mead, Pomegranate Mead and Sparkling Mead.
Bargetto has two tasting room locations. One is just a few miles north of R2 Hillside located at the winery in Soquel and the second tasting room is situated in the heart of Cannery Row in Monterey. Both tasting rooms offer friendly service and are open seven days a week.

Fun Fact: The original Bargetto Bros. brand sold Zinfandel at the Water Street Santa Cruz retail location for $0.59/bottle. This was right after the repeal of prohibition. It featured the term “Select Mountain Vineyard” to denote the importance of mountain-grown grapes from the area. This commitment to grapes from the Santa Cruz Mountains continues to this day.
